Sound quality is great, range works as expected in our neighborhood. When we first set it up we could hear other peoples conversations, we tried to talk to them for fun, however got a response. Easily switched to a private channel. Only thing I wish is this was a rechargable set, but you get what you pay for. It works great. I would recommend this if you were planning to use it just for the kids to communicate back and forth!
